(OLNEY/NEWTON) The strong low pressure area over the southwest will track across Texas today and into Oklahoma tonight. With plenty of moisture to work with, the storm system will dump heavy amounts of wet snow throughout the Mid-Mississippi River Valley, including downstate Illinois. For our area, the snow will begin late this afternoon and continue overnight with 3 to 5 inches of snow by Saturday morning with an additional 2 to 3 inches of snow mixed with rain possible by Sunday, before it all ends. That’s a 5 to 8 inch snow total expected over the 36 hour period, during which our winds will be light. A high pressure builds into our area by Monday night, bringing in dry and a little warmer air by midweek.
