(NOBLE)  in girls high school basketball last night – in the Midland Trail Conference – Woodlawn beat Noble / Clay City, 65-52 – the Lady Wildcats were led by Deanna Michels & Erin Taylor who each had a double/double with 20 and 14 points respectively, plus 10 rebounds each – Noble / Clay City falls back to 6&13 on the year, now 1&4 in the MTC – the Lady Wildcats play tomorrow night down at Wayne City

 
 
(NEWTON)  in other girls high school games last night  :   Cisne beat Wayne City, 42-34  :  Fairfield beat Carmi, 38-31  :  Neoga beat Effingham St Anthony, 35-28  :  Paris beat Dieterich, 79-30


 
(NEWTON)  in boys high school hoops  :  Charleston beat Urbana, 62-60  :  Mattoon beat Mt Zion, 67-62

 

(NEWTON)  in boys high school basketball – at the National Trail Conference Tournament  :  Teutopolis beat Cowden-Herrick, 87-30  :  St Elmo beat Altamont, 64-49  :  three more games tonight at Altamont – the matchups have Beecher City against Windsor at 5:00, Dieterich against Neoga at 6:30, and the nightcap has Effingham St Anthony against Stewardson-Strasburg at 8:00  :  the tournament continues all week


 
(OLNEY)  the LIC Conference Tournaments continued last night with winner’s bracket semi-final games  :
* in Boys’ action at Red Hill High in Bridgeport  :  top-seeded Flora slipped by #5 Hutsonville-Palestine, 54-48  :  2nd-seeded Marshall held on to beat #3 Casey-Westfield, 51-45
* in Girls’ action at the Lawrenceville High School  :  top-seeded Marshall beat #4 Red Hill, 51-21  :  #6 Lawrenceville upset 2nd-seeded Flora, 39-25
* the Boys’ tournament continues with two consolation semi-final games tonight in Bridgeport  :  #8 Lawrenceville plays #4 Oblong at 6:00  :  #6 Red Hill plays #9 Edwards County at 7:30
* the Girls’ tournament continues with two consolation semi-final games tonight in Lawrenceville  :  #5 Palestine-Hutsonville plays #7 Oblong at 6:00  :  #3 Cumberland plays #8 Casey-Westfield at 7:30

* the OCC teams swept two from Kaskaskia : Blue Knights won, 88-71 : Lady Knights won, 85-72
* Wabash Valley swept two from Lincoln Trail : Warriors won, 99-82 : Lady Warriors won, 95-42
* Lake Land swept two from John A Logan : the Lakers won, 66-56 : Lady Lakers won, 77-60
* the other matchup was a split : Southeastern won the men’s game, 92-78 : Rend Lake won the women’s game, 72-66

* it’s a battle of conference leaders tonight as 6&0 Wabash Valley will host the 6&0 OCC Blue Knights

* 4th place Southwestern Illinois, at 3&2, will host Lake Land as the 6th place Lakers are 1&3 in the GRAC
* 5th place Southeastern Illinois, at 2&4, is on the road to last place Lincoln Trail, now at 0&5
* 7th place John A Logan, at 1&4, will host 8th place Rend Lake, who are 1&5 in the GRAC

* fifth place Kaskaskia, at 3&3, is idle tonight
* 6th place Lincoln Trail, at 2&3, will host Southeastern Illinois as the last place Lady Falcons are at 1&4
* 8th place John A Logan, at 1&4, will host 9th place Rend Lake as the Lady Warriors are also at 1&4

* Boy’s Class 2A  :  16&2 Teutopolis is #5  :  19&2 Flora is #7  :  20&2 Olney is #8
* Boy’s Class 1A  :  17&3 Woodlawn is #6  :  Dieterich & St Elmo each received some votes
* Girl’s Class 3A  :  20&3 Salem is #10
* Girl’s Class 2A  :  20&4 Mt Carmel is #7  :  21&3 Pana is #10
* Girl’s Class 1A  :  17&3 Cowden-Herrick / Beecher City is #3
* less than two weeks remain in the Girl’s Class 2A and 1A regular seasons

(NEWTON)  a note from Newton Community High School  :  next Monday night is “Pack the Place Night” in the NCHS Gym as The Peoples State Bank will donate money to the Athletic Booster  Club & the Letterwomen’s Club for every fan who enters the gate – admission for the Monday night girls game between Newton & Robinson is free to all fans who wear orange or blue  :  meanwhile, a week from tomorrow, on Thursday, February 2nd, it will be “Senior Night” at the girls game as Newton will host Charleston – the Lady Eagle’s lone senior player, Amy Koebele, and Lady Eagle’s team manager, Jessica Cartright, will both be honored during their final regular season game at NCHS – all are urged to come out next week
