(OLNEY)  in Major League Baseball last night - the Cardinals made it two in a row
* the Redbirds beat the Pirates, 2-1 in St. Louis
the Cardinals go for the series sweep against Pittsburgh this afternoon

 

(OLNEY)  in Junior College Baseball yesterday - OCC lost a tough GRAC game
* the Blue Knights lost to Wabash Valley, 10-1 in a single nine inning game
* the Blue Knights are now 33-7 on the year, now 14-2 in the GRAC
OCC has a non-conference doubleheader today at Danville Area Community College

 

(OLNEY)  in Junior College Softball yesterday - OCC dropped three of four games
* the Lady Knights split two Monday against Kaskaskia, winning 4-3 and losing 4-2
* the Lady Knights dropped two yesterday to Lake Land, 15-3 and 10-0
* OCC is now 24-20 on the year, now 13-17 in the GRAC
the Lady Knights have a non-GRAC twinbill today at Danville Area Community College

 

(OLNEY)  in High School Boys Tennis yesterday - Olney wins an LIC match at home
the Tigers beat Robinson, 8-1 improving to 2-0 in the Little Illini Conference
Olney won five of the six singles matches played
* Connor Walker won the #1 singles match in two sets, 6-0, 6-1
* Austin Atwood won the #2 singles match in three sets, 2-6, 7-5, 6-3
* Tanner Hendrickson won the #3 singles match in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 6-3
* Adam Brewer won the #4 singles match in four sets, 6-2, 6-7, 2-7, 6-4
* Jack Bettis won the #5 singles match in two sets, 6-1, 6-2
the Tigers won all three of the doubles matches played
* Tanner Hendrickson and Jack Bettis won the #1 doubles match, 6-1, 6-3
* Connor Walker and Kye Stallard won the #2 doubles match, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3
* Austin Atwood and Cade McDowell won the #3 doubles match, 6-1, 6-1
Olney won 11 of the 16 junior varsity matches
the 7-0 Tennis Tigers are off today, but back in action tomorrow at home against Fairfield

 

(NEWTON)  in High School Boys Tennis yesterday - Newton lost a tough one point match
the Eagles fell to Flora in a home match, 4-3
Newton won only one of the five singles matches
* Holden Kerner won the #2 singles match in three sets, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4
the Eagles won both of the doubles matches
* Dylan Ochs and Zach Dust won the #1 doubles match in three sets, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3
* Sam Hemrich and Brett Woodard won the #2 doubles match in two sets, 6-2, 6-1
the Tennis Eagles are back in action this Friday at Flora, in Frog Island

 

(OLNEY)  in High School Baseball yesterday - Olney won a tough extra inning game
the Tigers beat Salem, 8-5 in fifteen innings of play
* with multiple top hitters, the winning pitcher was Braxton Burgener
now at 9-6, the Tigers are back in LIC action tomorrow at home against Robinson

 

(OLNEY)  in High School Softball yesterday - Olney won another game on the road
the Lady Tigers beat Salem, 10-4 as Olney outhit the host Lady Wildcats, 16 to 12
* Sophia Colclasure was the winning pitcher
* Sophia Colclasure had 4 hits and 3 RBI - Paige Ginder & Cheyla Lamb each had 2 hits
* Aaliyah Wease and Madisyn Wease each had a home run, both in the 5th inning
now at 12-4, the Lady Tigers are back in LIC action tomorrow at home with Robinson

 

(NEWTON)  in High School Baseball yesterday - Newton lost a tough game at home
the Eagles fell to Mattoon, 6-4 as Newton was outhit by the visiting Green Wave, 11 to 8
* Nate Meinhart had 2 hits and 2 RBI - Lucas Geier had 2 hits and 1 RBI
now at 6-5, the Eagles are back in LIC action tomorrow at home against Lawrenceville
